The island of Jersey is influenced by the British and the French although the island itself is British. Jersey covers 46 sq miles and most of the island is made up of unspoilt countryside, where you will discover hedgerows, dunes, cliffs, headlands, open fields and inland habitats. Jersey is located 100 miles from the south of mainland Britain and it is much closer to France than the UK, as it lies just 14 miles away.

Jersey is full of wealth, history and stunning natural beauty, and is the largest of the Channel Islands and it has been an island for about 8,000 years. The sea dominates the landscape, with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean which can be seen wherever you are in Jersey. Places to visit

There are many great places to see when you go to Jersey including magnificent castles, adventure parks, museums, wildlife and beautiful gardens. You must visit La Hougue Bie which is superb medieval chaper, Elizabeth Castle which defended Jersey for 300 years and at low tide you can get to it by foot or you can use the castle ferry, Montorgueil Castle which protected Jersey for 600 years against French invasion. All are fantastic places to visit when you’re on the island. Durrell Wildlife conservation trust is a sanctuary to over 130 endangered species, aMAIZIN! Adventure Park is an award winning attraction and is a great place for families to visit, Jerseys living ledgend village is also well worth a visit so too is Aquasplash, The gardens of Samares manor and Shell garden.

Jersey also has many art galleries, museums, maritime museums and you must see the Occupation tapestry and Jersey war tunnels which is one of Jersey’s most popular tourist attractions, and Pallot steam, motor and general museum where you can go back in time great family fun, whatever your age.

Shopper’s paradise
Jersey is a shopper’s heaven and St Hellier is an excellent shopping centre with a mix of well known high street names and smaller unique shops that offer things that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Places you must visit include Jersey Goldsmiths, Jersey Pearl, Catherine Best who is an award winning jewellery designer, Jersey Pottery and many, many more.

Stunning gardens
If you love exploring gardens you’ll love Jersey, as it is blessed with fantastic weather and long hours of sunshine which makes for spectacular gardens. You have got to visit Judith Queree’s garden, The Gardens of Samares Manor, Jersey lavender farm, Eric Young orchid foundation, Reg’s Garden and Shell garden.

Lively nightlife
If you’re looking for something to do when the sun goes down, Jersey boasts many music venues, clubs, and late night bars, theatres, cinemas and so much more.

Superb dining
Jersey offers world class cuisine, which is known all over the world for its food. With a huge range of places to eat, you really will be spoilt for choice, with Michelin star restaurants serving gourmet dishes, country pubs serving good honest hearty meals, beachside bistros, cafes and tea rooms, all taking advantage of the local produce. The standard of food is very high in Jersey and is suitable for all tastes you can enjoy French, Italian, Chinese, Morrocan, Thai, Portuguese, fast food, Indian, Traditional, sea food and so much more. You must taste the locally caught fresh fish including skate, bass, brill and mackerel, Jersey is well known for its shellfish including oysters, mussels, scallops in their shells and lobsters (just superb)
The ice creams are absolutely delicious because of the richness of the milk that is used from the world famous Jersey cows you can choose from a variety of flavours including vanilla, banoffee, montego, mambo, classic rum, raison combo and many more. Jersey is absolute heaven for those who love good food.

Activities
If your into your outdoor activities then Jersey is the place for you these are just some of the activities that you can do on land, aerial trekking, abseiling, archery, assault courses, blokarting, bungee trampoline, climbing, geocoaching, golf, horse riding, king swing, motor sports, lawn bowls, croquet, squash, segway rally, tennis, x- sail, zipwire, zorbing (where you roll down a hill in a giant inflatable ball) and many more, for all you adrenaline junkies out there.

Sea activities include, inflatable rides, where you’re pulled behind a speedboat (great fun), jet skiing, kayaking, kite surfing, motor dinghy, sailing, scuba diving, speed boats, surfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, wind surfing  and many more.

You can also take a boat trip or a charters trip, where you can spot dolphin as you cruise around the bay taking in all the stunning scenery as you relax and take things easy, you can also visit France or go snorkelling off one of Jersey’s offshore reefs, or you can just sit back relax and enjoy some champagne (if you like)
You can also go coasteering, where you can swim into coves and clamber across rocks, go tunnelling, climbing, swimming and cliff jumping.
Take a cruise along the south coast of Jersey where you can see the famous Corbiere lighthouse and admire the beautiful bays.

If you fancy something more adventurous why not see Jersey from the sky? You can take flying lessons, go skydiving and experience the breathtaking views from the sky (fantastic)

Walking has to be one of the best ways to explore this beautiful island whether you want a gentle stroll or a 5 mile hike, by the sea or inland Jersey caters for all abilities and you can be rest assured you’re bound to stumble across pubs, cafes and restaurants as you wend your way, where you can relax and enjoy some refreshments. You can choose self guided routes or if you want some help getting around you can go on a guided walk.

Cycling is extremely popular in Jersey and is perfect for taking in all the sights, smells and sounds of this spectacular place, you can enjoy a gentle scenic ride or opt for a more challenging ride, the choice is all yours. With 100 miles of roads, byways and lanes you’ll be spoilt for choice, you can cycle around the whole island with miles and miles of green lawns. You can hire a bike when you get here or bring your own, go on a cycle tour if you want some help as to where to go and the best places to discover or if you’re confident choose a self guided route.

Tours and day trips are also available if you don’t fancy taking the car, let someone who knows show you what’s on offer in Jersey and you can just sit back relax and enjoy the ride. You can visit the other Channel Islands including Alderney, Guernsey, Herm and Sark each has its own charm and character and make great days out.

Coach trips are great for tours around Jersey you can choose morning, afternoon, evening or even all day trips, they are leisurely and informative and you get to have the chance to see more of Jersey than if you was driving, you will get the chance to stop for refreshments, visit local attractions, farms and gardens.
