Poole is a bustling quay, with some of the best beaches in the whole of the UK, with its stunning natural harbour, fantastic world class cuisine, superb shopping, you really couldn't find a better place to holiday. With its gorgeous houses, that are home to many celebrities and eye catching luxury yachts, you really will have to catch your breath in Poole (you have been warned!) Poole is ideally situated for exploring the local area and there are so many great family attractions including, Abbotsbury Swannery which is great for a family day out, Adventure Wonderland with fantastic rides and attractions and is also home to the South's largest natural maze, Beaulieu Motor museum and Palace House in the heart of the New Forest, Bennetts Water Museum, Blue Pool with its 25 acres of tranquil woods and heathland that surrounds the blue pool, Brownsea Island, Central Park is great fun for kids, Compton acres gardens with 10 acres of themed gardens, The dinosaur museum, Dorset teddy bear museum, monkey world and Paultons park, Go Ape on a high wire forest adventure , these places are just a few of the fantastic family attractions in and around Poole.

If you love your outdoor activities and water sports you will be in adrenaline heaven in Poole. There is just so much you can do, so here goes (you'll have to keep up), you can go on jetski safaris, go on a blue line cruise and sail to Brownsea Island, Studland Bay and Old Harry Rocks, boat trips are available from the harbours, fishing trips, charters trips, enjoy a cream tea cruise (superb), fish n chips firework cruise, climbing, coasteering, highropes, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, windsurfing, surfing, kayak safaris, mackerel trips, wrecking trips, go on a Poole sea safari, which is a fantastic boat experience and you get to discover the Jurassic coast ( puffed out yet?)

You can hire a self drive motor boat from Poole Harbour, if you want to try your hand at sailing there are courses available catering for all abilities and Poole also offers free harbour trips for people with disabilities. If you want to discover Dorset, but don't fancy taking the car, why not let someone else do the driving for you and go on a Discover Dorset Tour? Cycling is a fantastic way to discover the delights of Poole, there are many off road and on road cycle tracks and you can also cycle along the coast. Walking has to be the best way to discover Poole, there are fabulous walks available, and there will be many opportunities for you to stop and have a coffee or cream tea as you go on your way. Enjoy walking along the 10 miles of golden, sandy beaches and feel the sand beneath your feet. You can walk from Haven Point all the way to Bournemouth, you can also hop onto a ferry to Shell bay and from there walk to Studland.

Poole's cockle trail is a must for all walkers, so too is the Bourne valley Greenway, Poole harbour trails and Ham Common walk. Fancy a trip to Jersey or Guernsey? If so all you have to do is hop onto a condor ferry and enjoy the ride! Jersey is an Island of natural beauty and Guernsey offers the best of contemporary living. Both are fantastic places to visit for a great family day out.

You can also catch a ferry and cross over to France for the day (or longer, if you like) Or if all of that sounds like too much for you, why not just sit back and relax and admire the stunning colourful yachts (bliss), whilst trying to spot millionaires. Bournemouth is just 6 miles East from Poole, and is a fantastic family day out, with its 7 miles off sandy beaches. If you love nature you'll love Poole and the surrounding countryside.

Poole Harbour is home to reed beds, mud flats, salt meadows and grazing marches. Take a ferry to Studland which is a natural nature reserve of dune, heath, wetland and woodland. With miles of sandy beaches that run to Old Harry Rocks which is a chalk stack alongside dramatic cliffs. Poole is a shopper's heaven here you really can shop till you drop. Visit the old town for many unique shops selling gifts, fruits, wines and so much more.

Head to quayside and experience the delights of outlet shopping. The Dolphin shopping centre is Dorset's largest indoor shopping centre and is home to more than 110 stores specialising in beauty, fashion, music, gifts and food. Poole's superb beaches has got to be one of the main reasons why people visit this spectacular place, who could resist world famous, award winning beaches? With miles of soft, golden sand, clean, clear water, Poole really does offer the best beaches around if you love beach life, you must visit Poole. Modern waterside bars and restaurants, celebrities, millionaires, yachts and powerboats, you'd think you were in Miami and not the South of England.

Poole boasts 5 sheltered beaches including the world famous, award winning Sandbanks, which is home to many celebrities. Sandbank's is the winner of more blue flags than anywhere else in the UK. Poole's beaches are very clean, very safe with lifeguards patrolling every beach and you can enjoy them all year round, just relax and watch the world go by. World class sports including The British Beach Polo Championships, has been hosted on Sandbank's beach. Sandbank's is naturally beautiful and has more than 3 miles of golden sand.

Shore road beach has fine, golden sand, with fantastic views. Canford cliffs beach, is in quiet a quiet and natural area and is a haven for wildlife, with its steep sandy cliff face, here there are local shops and restaurants. Branksome Chine beach has fine, golden sand and a gradual sloping clean beach, with safe waters. Branksome Dene has great views over Poole bay and dog walkers are very welcome here all year round, this is the last beach before you get to Bournemouth. Hamworthy park beach offers peace and quiet with panoramic views towards the Purbeck hills.

Lake drive beach is a sand and shingle beach, which also includes Hamworthy common and is now a local nature reserve and a special site of scientific interest. Poole offers many leisure facilities including, leisure centres, bowling greens, tennis courts, golf courses and skate parks. Splashdown is the South's ultimate water park, fantastic fun for all the family. For the ultimate adrenaline fix you must try your hand at zorbing, which involves rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable ball, great fun for all you adrenaline junkies out there. If you love art you must visit The Peacock gallery and Lighthouse which is Poole's centre for the arts.

If you're looking for something to do when the sun goes down there are many theatres, nightclubs, Poole greyhound stadium, Poole speedway, bars, clubs, pubs and cinemas. Poole also hosts many events including Rallye sunseeker, Coles Miller Dream Machines and summer breeze on the quay, to mention just a few. Poole offers excellent accommodation, including luxury hotels that offer the very best of luxuries, with fabulous views, some over Poole harbour and some are even on the beach, imagine waking up and taking an early morning stroll on the sand (heaven) small hotels are also available and are every bit as luxurious, lovely guest houses, B and Bs, self catering cottages and apartments, stunning caravan parks and holiday parks, great if you're taking the whole family and maybe the family pooch, as many hotels and self catering accommodation allow dogs to stay, (well, even your pooch needs a holiday, now and then).
